Winter meetings are held in the Methodist Church Hall, Rhodedendron Avenue, Sticklepath, Barnstaple at 7.30pm. New members are always welcome.

SEPTEMBER 1ST TO 29TH 2012: ANNUAL PRINT EXHIBITION on Display at Barnstaple Museum.
See separate note.

Sept 13. OPENING NIGHT. Subscriptions. All members are invited to bring two or three mounted prints along for display during the evening

Sept 20. Bring your cameras, flash guns etc etc for WORKSHOP NO.1 - a practical Still Life Evening. The results of this evening will be shown on Oct 4 together with the Summer Project, and from all these our set for the Kingswood Salver (the premier Inter-Club print competition in the WCPF) will be selected. Led by Mike and Frances Hedges.

Sept 27. WORKSHOP NO.2, led by Maureen Dennis APAGB. "Making an Audio-Visual Sequence," using Windows DVD and Movie Makers , Pictures to Exe , Picasa and other programmes, some downloadable free from the Internet. Bring along your laptops, collections of images, music on CD or Flash stick, and one or two blank CDs. Members' AVs will be shown at the Christmas Party on December 20th.

Oct 4. FORUM NO. 1 . Viewing of images from the summer still life project and from Workshop No.1. These may be either prints or DPIs , with the Kingswood Salver our aim.
We will also be viewing the PRINT AND DPI SUMMER PROGRAMME COMPETITION: winners will be decided by popular vote. Bring entries on the night.

Oct 11. "A Historical View of Photography in North Devon” from 1842 to 1914."A presentation by Photographic Historian Peter Christie

Oct 18. We are hosts to a two-way EXCHANGE with Dulverton Camera Club. Our contribution will be the presentation to Members of our Annual Print Exhibition.

Oct 25. The Beyond Group's Open Exhibition. Recorded programme.

Nov 1 Mrs.Robin Ravilious presents the work of the late James Ravilious. Unique, superb monochrome images of farm life in North Devon.

Nov 8. PORTFOLIO COMPETITION. Up to 3 Portfolios of 3 prints or DPIs (not mixed), presenting each portfolio for discussion. Derek Stratton is judging the competition and will also lead the discussion. What is a photographic portfolio? Well basically it is a set of three images intended to show off the photographer's work. The images will usually be of quite different subjects, which do not need to be related. The choice is yours.

Nov.15. And now for something completely different. The Hall is not available tonight so how about we all repair to an agreed hostelry for a completely informal mid-term meal?

Nov 29. WORKSHOP NO.3. You have pressed the shutter button; the image is on the memory card. What happens next , up to the final picture? Also, Composition, and the Seeing Eye.Round-the-table groups,led by Pete Fry ARPS DPAGB and Peter Clark ARPS DPAGB.

Jan 10. Last year four of our Members were awarded Licentiateships by the Royal Photographic Society – Trish Isherwood, Sue James, Penny Oliver and Lorna Webber - so we have asked them to entertain us for a quarter of an evening each.

Mar 21 MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER COMPETITION. Judge - Mac Bouchere FRPS. Rules as last year except that 'Travel' is added as an extra category to choose from.

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO HAND IN YOUR CLUB EXHIBITION ENTRIES BY AUGUST 20 AS BELOW, AND PLEASE LET US HAVE A GOOD ENTRY.

NOTES:

EXHIBITION: Closing date for hand-in to Mike Hedges or Peter Clark - August 20. Prints only, any subject, standard mount 50mm x 40mm essential as the successful entries will be framed. Please do not submit images shown in previous Club Exhibitions. As before, up to 6 images may be submitted. Any member submitting at least three images will be guaranteed to have at least one accepted.

SUMMER PROJECT. During the summer please have a go at some still life’s. We need as many as possible to choose from for the Kingswood Salver. Any subject, the only criteria is that there should be 5 objects (excluding backgrounds) in each tableau. To be shown on October 4th.

Portfolio, Landscape, Master Photographer and Print and DPI of the Year Competitions will be known as Premium Competitions.

Premium Competition and Outside Competition Prints must each be mounted on a board 50cm x 40cm.Others may have smaller mounts.

DPIs must all be resized to a maximum 1400x1050.maximum height is 1050.

Marks are now abolished for Club Competitions: Judges will be asked to allocate first, second and third places and any HCs if they wish.
